Steps

  1. Drop the picture into Image to text (or paste it with Ctrl+V). The first time, the reader (about 6 MB) is fetched.
  2. The text appears in the box below; fix any slip right there.
  3. Lines cut by the screen width come back together with “Join each paragraph”.
  4. Copy it or save it as text, or hand it straight to Translate, Chat or Find.

Questions

Which languages can it read?
English, plus Japanese on the Japanese page and French on the French page.
Can it read handwriting?
It is made for printed text; handwriting and decorative lettering cause more mistakes.
Can it read many pictures at once?
With the Pass, as many as you like, joined into one text. One at a time is free.

Pictures are never sent anywhere; everything runs in this browser.
