Make photos light for the web

A 1600 px long edge at 85% quality suits most sites; 1200 px for a blog, 1080 px for social media.

Steps

  1. Drop the photos on "Resize" and press the preset "Web (long edge 1600 px)".
  2. To hit a size, use "Compress" with "Under 200 KB".
  3. For smaller still, "Convert" to WebP; nearly every browser shows it.
  4. Strip location data with "Remove metadata" before publishing a phone photo.

How much smaller?
A phone photo (about 4000 px, 3 MB) usually lands at 200-400 KB at 1600 px and 85%.
Does quality suffer?
On a screen it is hardly visible. Keep the original for print.
